An SOFC unit sits outside or in a plant space like an air-source heat pump. It runs on gas, makes electricity for the building, and the heat that would otherwise be wasted goes into hot water. We supply the gas meter and the supply contract with the install.
A solid oxide fuel cell is a quiet, high-temperature generator. Gas is reformed on the unit; the cell makes electricity; leftover heat is recovered. Unlike a boiler, you are not burning fuel only for warmth. Unlike a solar array, it runs at night and in winter.
We do not name kit brands here. The unit is chosen after we look at the load — house, block, or commercial plant room.
Think of a unit on the elevation or in the yard, similar footprint to an ASHP. The house draws cheap on-site power for lights, cooking and sockets. Domestic hot water comes off the cell. The grid is still there for peaks; the unit covers the steady load.
Savings depend on the tariff, the hours the unit runs, and how much heat you actually use. We will not put a headline £ or % on this page. A look at your bills comes first.
The same technology scales into commercial plant: offices, care, hospitality, light industrial. Multiple units or a larger cell sit with ASHPs, solar, storage and, where there is spare heat, an ORC to squeeze more electricity out of the exhaust.
On a site that already wants a microgrid, the fuel cell is the steady generator; batteries take the spikes; the backup set covers a long outage.
Every fuelled install includes the gas meter and the supply contract. You are not left to organise a connection after the unit is on the wall. Skyline puts the plant in and sets up the molecule that feeds it.
